Blacktown East Presbyterian
Church
I'm new!
Welcome!
Take a look at this short video to find out a bit more about who we are.
What to expect in our services
You may never have visited church before – that's OK! We'd love you to join us. Come as you are – no one gets too dressed up at Blacktown East!
We understand that trying anything new can be a bit daunting. But it might help you to know what happens in our service:
-
Church usually goes for about 1 hour and 15 minutes.
-
We enjoy singing together and usually sing about 5 songs, accompanied by a band.
-
The person up the front who leads the service, prays (talks to God). Sometimes a few people in the congregation might pray as well.
-
Someone gets up and tells us about church news and coming events.
-
A Bible passage is read and someone (usually Keith) gives a talk for 20 to 30 minutes, explaining the passage.
-
In the morning service, there’s an entertaining talk for the kids and a kids’ song, and then they can go to Sunday school or preschool for the second half of the service.
-
A collection is taken up to support the work of the church – this is mainly for regulars, so please don’t feel you have to contribute.
And don’t worry, you won’t be asked to read or pray aloud or stand up and introduce yourself.
After the service, we stay around for a coffee and morning tea/supper – which is a great time to meet and chat with people. So please stay and join us.
We’d love to explore Christianity with you and help you find out who Jesus is.
We hope to see you soon.
